Krka Waterfalls & Swimming: A Day Trip Guide from Split

Unlike many waterfalls around the world, at Krka National Park you can actually swim at the base of stunning cascades. The Skradinski Buk waterfall, with its 17 stepped travertine barriers, is one of the most beautiful natural swimming holes in Europe.

Important Update: As of recent years, swimming at the main waterfall area is periodically restricted for conservation. Check current regulations before visiting.

Getting to Krka from Split

By Bus/Car:

The park is about 1 hour north of Split. Buses run regularly to Skradin, the gateway town.

By Boat:

The most scenic option is to sail up the coast to Skradin, then take the park boat to the falls. Some tours combine coastal cruising with the Krka visit.

Park Entrances

Krka has multiple entrances:

Lozovac: Main entrance for Skradinski Buk, with shuttle bus to the falls
Skradin: Take a scenic 25-minute boat ride to the falls
Roski Slap: Less crowded upper falls area
